ALBUM OUT NOW

Track Listing

Ticket-to-memhis-front.jpg

The album offers songs which are descriptive and releveant to each and every one of us; it's an observational look at the world around us and documents our interactions. I couldn't have written some of these songs in my youth as it takes world weary eyes to try and make sense of some of the things you see.  I touch on subjects such as trust, dementia, regret but also thankfulness, hope and kindness.

I hope you enjoy the music, put it on, close your eyes, listen to the words and reflect a while. Some songs are just meant to be chilled to.

WHAT ARE THE SONGS ABOUT

1 TICKET TO MEMPHIS  - I was in Houston and some acquaintances had flown out to represent the UK in the blues challenge in Memphis. I knew a while back it was happening but left it to the last minute to get a flight to go and support them by which time all the cheap flights had gone. I always leave things to the last minute and loose out. So it's really a song about support, which we all need and going for the moment and not leaving things too late.

2 DIXIE DIXIE - You can choose friends but you can't choose family. Dixie Dixie is torn between hypocrisy and family reliance .....until she breaks free.

3 DOBRYI VECHER - This really is a thank you to Boris, for his great hospitality and marvellous conversations over breakfast which we had when he offered me the opportunity to visit Russia. I played with some amazing musicians and met some wonderful people. Dobryi Vecher .......It's the only thing I can say at the shows in the native tongue !!

4 FRAGILE - This song is about trust and the fragility of friendships and consequences of ambition, where betrayal is an accepted part of someones ambition.

5 I FOUND YOU - When you find some one who you can really rely on it should be celebrated.

6 HELLO MY FRIEND - I wrote this after attending a funeral, more common a place now then it ever used to be. It dawned on me that on these occaisons I meet people who I haven't seen for a while.  We chat, reminisce and both leave with a more acute sense  of our own mortality and a realisation that perhaps we should change a little to reflect this. Hello my friend dressed in black........

7 HOMEWARD BOUND - just a celebration that most of the clarity of thinking is done when at home. I love coming home to my own castle, it's comfortable and a paradise in a world of hassle.

8 JESUS ON THE WALL - If Jesus on a white washed wall in a church could talk what would he say, would approve of actions and deeds of things done in his name. Would he rather rock n roll ?

9 ON THE RUN - The story of wise guy Henry Hill seen through his Childs eye - taken from the book On the Run - cracking read

10 REMEMBER - A simple story of love for someone suffering dementia

11 I WOULD STILL LOVE YOU - A simple story of love for some one

12 WALK IN STYLE - Be yourself - don't walk like a sheep - Bah Bah Bah

13 DOING TIME - Judges can be prejudiced just like all of us, buyer beware

14 THOUGHTS & PRAYERS - A song which questions the validity of stock thoughts and prayers given like a habit to tragic events. Surely words and positive actions to resolve issues should be a more resolute response. Saying anything too often without deep sincerity means the impact is lost and it becomes meaningless.
